Women’s Day in a unique style
Self Help Groups of FAsCE India in Thingba Khullen and Thingba Khounou villages, Senapati district, Manipur,
celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring the elder ladies of both villages with showers of appreciation and gifts.
The SHGs celebrated the day on March 22, 2015, with the theme ‘Empowering women, empowering society.’ Fr Jojan Plathottathil,
MSFS, Sr Arul Mary and local leaders enlightened the gathering with regard to the importance of the day, role of women in the
society and their rights. All the women above 80 years of age were honoured with gifts. As part of the celebration, sports and
cultural competitions were organised among women and the winners were given prizes.
